All along the loire

A group of six people contacts me to put together a week-long trip that would follow the Loire from its source in the center south of France all the way through to it’s delta in Nantes.

Here’s how the schedule might look:

Day One ~ Depart Paris in the morning and arrive in Lyon in time for lunch. Then a train to Puy-en-Velay for a hike and dinner.

Day Two ~ Begin heading downstream to St. Etienne and eventually to Roanne

Day Three ~ A morning winery visit followed by lunch and then onward to Nevers

Day Four ~ Some goat cheese and Sancerre to start the day, followed by a 1-star meal and lodging in Orléans.

Day Five ~ A good long hike along the Loire culminated with a farm-to-table dinner in Saumur.

Day Six ~ Lunch in a cute place not far from Angers and then finish the day near the sea in St. Nazaire. Dinner off the beaten path.

Day Seven ~ A short train into Nantes for lunch and then onward to your next destination

Total Estimated cost person: €3,500 with all meals, rooms, and train transportation included
