You’re certainly reading this section and wondering, “where?” This region is found in French département 01, called the Ain. It is tucked away in eastern France between Lyon and Geneva on the Swiss border, a part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

It is home to rich butter and cream, raw milk mountain cheeses like Blue de Gex,and, perhaps most famous of all, Bresse chicken.
