Curnonsky had a particular soft spot for Burgundy, that northern anchor to Lyon and keeper of what he believed to be one of the world’s five greatest wines—Montrachet.

It was in a preamble to a book dedicated to Burgundy that he coined the term GASTRONOMADE, that is, a gastronome who travels to eat and drink well, apostles and wanderers of the cult of good food, and whose motto is: la route et la croûte.
