The Adriatic Coast of Italy
November 5th-12th, 2026
We'll probably start in Rome, then drive east through the countryside, past the fabulous Gran Sasso, and then spend a few days in Abruzzo. We’ll have plenty of time to stretch our legs on the beach and/or the mountains on this trip, before we finish up north of Bari.
The focus of this tour will be Olio Nuovo. We'll step foot into at least 6 olive oil mills during a time of year that can't be beat--just weeks after harvest is complete. If you've never had oh-so fresh olive oil before, this will be an eye-opening experience. And don't worry...there will be plenty of pasta and pizza, with great country wine to wash it all down. We'll certainly like to do some winery prospecting too…
Total Estimated cost person: €5000 with all lunches, dinners, lodging, entry fees, and transportation included.
Where We’ll Go…
-
Yeah, I know I’m billing this is an “Adriatic” tour, but flying in to Italy on that coast, and getting everything done that we want, is complicated. So…we’ll start in Rome, and make our way to Tivoli for one night, and a welcome meal at a fantastic restaurant.
After we depart the next morning, following some time to get your first cappuccino, we’ll head to a truck stop in Metropolitan Rome for the best pasta lunch you’ll ever have!
-
We could spend a whole tour here, in this magnificent region where the mountains meet the sea. But instead, let’s see what we can get done in 2.5 days, okay?
Our lodging will be in the historic center of Pescara, a stone’s throw from the sea, and of course, lots of seafood. A day trip into the foothills of Gran Sasso for a cooking class and lunch in the country will be included, as a well as visit to one of our olive oil producers. Lunch that day will be at the local gas station. No joke.
-
The final leg of this tour will be in a small village north of Bari, and besides some great meals, we’re going to do some olive oil and wine prospecting.
This is where you put your importer hat on, and visit places with me for the first time. What’s the worst thing that could happen?
I’ll leave you in Bari, where you can remain on, or catch a flight back to one of the main airports in Italy, Spain, France, or the UK.
